Organizations such as the American Red Cross and UNICEF are only taking monetary donations. Many that would like to assist in some way do not have extra funding to give. There is a wonderful generosity about people that want to help. How can you deny someone that want to assist (in whatever way they can), but the only way they can is by sending money?
Operation Shape Up wanted to do something to show we care. In the past week, we have collected over 20 large size garbabe bags full of items from; men's clothing, women's clothing, children's clothes, toddler, pots and pans, sleeping bags, shoes for everyone, tooth brushes, tooth paste, ear swabs, peroxide and alcohol for disinfecting, sanitary items, under garments and comforters/blankets.
To all the family and friends that have donated and are continuing to donate, I thank you so very much. Items will be delivered (by 3 vehicles) on Thursday, November 21st to The First Baptist Church in Missouri City, TX as they are making a shipment out on Saturday, November 23rd.
